FAQ

  • Location filming brings a whole host of economic benefits – from jobs for crew members to products and services that productions require (e.g. accommodation, transport, catering and equipment hire).

  • At the Hertfordshire Film Office, we use a permit system for any production filming on public owned land or property. As a result, productions need to inform residents and businesses before we can give permission to film.

If have not been notified and suspect the production is operating without permission, you can ask to see a copy of the approval document or contact us.

  • If possible, you should contact the owner of the property directly. Otherwise, feel free to speak with us. Although we may not be involved, in the prodcution, we will do what we can to support you.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose information about productions that are filming. But we will try, wherever possible, to promote productions on their release via our social media channels and website.

  • We know that having a film crew in your area can be disruptive. To remind productions of this, we have our Filming in Hertfordshire Protocol in place. It aims to improve communication and sets out guidelines for productions to follow when filming in Herefordshire. We hope this will improve your future experiences, but if you have any concerns, please dont hesitate contact us.

  • You will need to negotiate terms with the production company regarding your property’s use, proposed alterations and any fees. Most production companies will have a standard filming agreement for you to sign. Make sure you read it and ensure your rights are completely protected. If you feel uncomfortable with any terms, ask them to amend it. We can give support if you have any concerns.

It is vital that the production make your neighbours aware of any filming. If your production requires specific permission from Hertfordshire Film Office (such as permission to film or traffic management), the prodcution company need to get in touch with us.
