  • The borough of Broxbourne is a sought after film location, a stone’s throw from Junction 25 of the M25.

    It is home to Green Flag-award winning green spaces; the Lee Valley White Water Centre, which hosted the Canoe Slalom events at the 2012 Olympics; and the refurbished Spotlight Theatre, with its stunning interiors and grounds.

    The borough has three towns: Waltham Cross, home to one of the three remaining Eleanor Cross monuments; Hoddesdon, home Hoddesdon Studios, which spans over 200,000 sq. ft.; and Cheshunt Old Pond, near to the world-class Sunset Waltham Cross Studios which is currently in development.

    Productions that have filmed in Broxbourne include the Apple TV series Silo, BBC’s Killing Eve, Channel 4’s Damned, and the Warner Bros. film, The Flash.

  • Dacorum is a picturesque borough just 30 minutes from London, and close to many of the UK’s major film studios.

    Its film-friendly towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring are steeped in history and heritage, plus the many surrounding quaint villages offer ‘town and country’ effortlessly rolled into one.

    It is the ideal location to shoot stunning cinematography, with its picture-perfect locations and fantastic unit base solutions.

    Dacorum has it all; from luxury Grade I neo-gothic country houses and Grade II listed buildings, with high streets perfect for period film and TV with their Victorian, Georgian and Tudor architecture; to modern office buildings, stunning parks, and a fabulous police station double.

  • East Hertfordshire boasts five characterful, historic market towns and villages, including Bishop’s Stortford, Hertford and Ware, as well as picturesque rural scenery surrounding the district’s rare chalk rivers – the Lea, Ash, Beane, Mimram, Rib and Stort.

    With close to 300 Grade II listed properties in the district, from castles, churches and manors, including Fanhams Hall and Gardens in Ware, East Hertfordshire offers locations perfect for both contemporary and period projects.

    Located just half an hour from major film studios, productions filmed in the district include A Very English Scandal, Spider Man: Far From Home, Strike, Silent Witness, Bollywood’s Angrezi Medium and numerous other TV programmes and drama series.

  • North Herts is home to the attractive towns of Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Royston, and Baldock, as well as picture perfect villages including Knebworth, Pirton and Preston.

    From bucolic countryside to stately homes, market towns, the world’s first garden city, stunning historic buildings, town halls, nature reserves and council-owned buildings, the district has a lot to offer production companies looking for new, unusual or interesting locations.

    North Herts has featured in award winning films including The World’s End, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Batman Begins, and more recently My Policeman and Beetlejuice 2.

    There have also been a number of successful TV shows filmed in the area including Tell Me Everything and Doctor Foster.

  • St Albans district sits just outside London and is a stone’s throw from Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and Elstree Studios, with great links to Pinewood (M25) and Hoddesdon Studios (A414/M25).

    Standing on the former Roman settlement of Verulamium, stunning St Albans Cathedral dates back to Norman times. St Albans city centre offers a cobbled market place surrounded by a mix of architectural styles.

    Notable buildings include the medieval Clock Tower; St Albans Museum + Gallery, set in the former Old Town Hall which still houses a grand courtroom and cells; the art deco Odyssey Cinema from 1931; and the timber-framed Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub. Verulamium Park offers 100 acres of parkland with an ornamental lake and rare chalk stream.

    The nearby town of Harpenden has independent shops, restaurants and a magnificent common, as well as Rothamsted Park, Rothamsted Manor and Rothamsted Research - one of the oldest agriculture research institutions in the world.

    The district is also home to the picturesque villages of Redbourn, Wheathampstead and Sandridge, and Nomansland Common and Heartwood Forest which boasts four pockets of precious ancient woodland.

  • Hertsmere has a long and historic association with film and television production. Home to BBC Elstree, Elstree Studios and the newly developed Sky Studios Elstree, the borough’s geographical benefits and industry expertise are as relevant as ever.

    Known as ‘Creative Hertsmere’, this will continue to develop in the future with Elstree Screen Arts Academy and production services based here.

    Hertsmere is a diverse borough, with small picturesque villages surrounded by beautiful countryside leading through to bustling modern towns, offering a varied backdrop for all productions.

  • As one of the oldest towns in the UK, Stevenage saw a boom of redevelopment and new housing during the 1950s.

    It is a town of two halves, with Stevenage Old Town encompassing a leafy high street and buildings that date back to the 1600s, while the New Town is peppered with brutalist architecture built post-World War 2.

    The town can be directly accessed by train from London, Peterborough, Cambridge, Lincoln, Brighton, Leeds, York and Horsham, and has excellent road links via the A1(M).

    Stevenage town centre has an expansive open space that can house sizeable filming crews, as well as a covered market and Fairlands Valley Park, which offers sprawling green space with a lake and gardens. The town also has medium-rise housing, garages, hotels and multi-storey car parks.

  • Three Rivers district is home to the world-famous Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, and offers ideal filming locations including The Grove resort and spa and Moor Park Mansion.

    It has 580 hectares of beautiful open space as well as six local nature reserves, including the Rickmansworth Aquadrome with two large lakes and a large park to host a unit base. The rejuvenated Leavesden Country Park has a striking heritage and art trail.

    The area is home to businesses from a diverse range of sectors, including vibrant small firms located on standalone sites that lend well to a variety of filming opportunities.

    Three Rivers is ideally situated between junctions 17-18 of the M25 and is minutes from the M1 and M40. The district is well served with public transport links, with central London only 25 minutes away by train.

  • Watford is an urban borough in south west Hertfordshire, 17 miles from the centre of London. It is a hub for commerce, culture and leisure.

    Watford’s high street is largely pedestrianised and has been used for a variety of TV series and adverts. The stunning North Watford Cemetery has hosted many Eastenders’ characters’ funerals over the years.

    The town offers distinctive settings - from historic buildings and the bustling high street to the award winning Cassiobury Park with its diverse natural backdrops. Located near the town centre is the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.

  • Welwyn and Hatfield district offers a range of suburban, town centre and parkland filming locations. Welwyn Garden City has a distinct aesthetic that blends town and country, and has been featured in multiple films and TV shows, including Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.

    The old Shredded Wheat factory site offers a versatile industrial location, while Stanborough Park spans 126 acres of beautiful countryside with two stunning lakes. The district is also home to several quaint villages and a large open grassland which borders the stunning Digswell Viaduct.

    In nearby Hatfield, the beautiful and historic Hatfield House, Park and Gardens is one of Hertfordshire’s most notable and popular filming locations, hosting productions including Enola Holmes, The Favourite, Bridgerton, Sherlock Holmes, and The King’s Speech.
